Hello everyone,
Sending happy mid-week vibes to you all wherever you are in the world.
Today, I’m thinking of taking a trip to what I consider to be one of the most romantic cities in Europe; Amsterdam. As kids, my siblings and I flew through Amsterdam almost every year to get to Miami. It was so common for us to be in transit at Schipol airport that we happened to be stranded there for 4 days during the 9/11 attacks. Since then, I haven’t boarded a plane heading for Amsterdam, and that has to change.

What I want to do: 1) Visit the Anne Frank House, 2) Cruise along Amsterdam’s canals, and 3) Picnic at the Keukenhof (Kitchen) Gardens. A romantic at heart, cozy picnics, lazy walks and intimate boat rides are some of my favorite things to do. There are few things better than sharing pleasant company in a beautiful place.

What I want to see: 1)The Van Gogh Museum :Now, I’m no art expert but Van Gogh’s post-impressionist paintings are world renowned and I’d like to see them up close. The museum houses the largest collection of his works. 2) Tulip museum : There’s an interesting story here on a flower-filled period in history known as the “tulip bubble” or “tulipomania”. Tulips, although wildly popular in the Netherlands, are actually native to Asia. 3)The Royal Palace and 4)Amsterdam’s Jordaan neighborhood: Remember the movie “The Fault in our Stars”? Apparently, there’s a bench here from the movie that was so popular, it got stolen… I don’t get it either.

Obviously, this museum is not about sunflowers, but this photo was too pretty to pass up!
I couldn’t find any great stock photos of the tulip museum itself, but here’s a photo of tulips -from around the museum- to brighten your day. As a heads up to everyone I know, when I go to Amsterdam, I’m bringing you tulips.

What I want to eat: Apparently, the Netherlands is not known for its exciting cuisine; but anywhere that has good sweet treats, has my name written all over it. Find me at a little cafe with an iced coffee in my hand while nibbling on Poffertjes (mini dutch pancakes) and/or Stroopwafel.

I’ll have my pancakes with chocolate sauce all over, please!

Amsterdam seems like a photographer’s dream; like one of those cities where walking its streets is in itself a worthy experience. Have any of you been to Amsterdam? What did you get up to, and what would you recommend I do outside of this list? If you haven’t, is Amsterdam on your tradar (travel radar)? Leave me a comment to let me know.
Until next Wednesday, keep dreaming!
Thank you for reading.
