Captains of our own ships

Hola everyone,

I hope you’re all well. Don’t worry, the title of the post is more literal than you think. Go ahead, let out that sigh of relief because I am not here to tell you how I’m in total control of my life. I WILL tell you about that time we drove a boat across the Atlantic ocean and Caribbean Sea. Well, it was a 13inch inflatable mini boat, but who’s taking notes?

9:00am – Eat

10:00am – Rent a car

11:30 am- Start the drive to Fajardo

This was what my reminders app looked like the morning of our island hopping/snorkeling tour with Kayaking Puerto Rico. We decided to rent a car to drive from San Juan to Fajardo (1hr drive) to avoid any crazy cab fares. If you find yourself in San Juan, a car rental is definitely the way to go. Especially if you want to explore other faraway islands and cities.

We managed to avoid crazy drivers and traffic and arrived Fajardo Marina in one piece. After a brief safety and info session, we were directed to the boats we’d be driving. Did I fear for my safety as my friend navigated a boat for the first time? yes, maybe a little. But, I was having way too much fun to care.

Enjoy the views.

DCIM186GOPROWe paid for a photo package but I would recommend getting a waterproof case and having a friend/stranger take your picture. Although it was reasonably priced at 15USD, the photo quality was not great and the one photographer was simply overwhelmed with all the people he had to get shots of.

I am having so much fun writing these posts because they’re allowing me to relive my trip with you guys. Sigh, I really wish I could go back now but my memories will have to suffice. Have any of you done this tour? Would you like to do something similar? Leave a comment and let me know!
